Vehicles are a part of everyday life both inside and outside of the workplace, but often the associated dangers are often overlooked. Very few workplaces are not affected by workplace transport. Even apparently low risk premises such as offices may have staff car parking areas and vehicle deliveries.

Every year a significant number of people are killed or seriously injured in workplace transport accidents. In 2007, 24 workplace fatalities involved vehicles or mobile work equipment. At the root of the majority of workplace transport accidents is poor management control.
